Numbers Columns Arch
Client had a color scheme of maroon, purple, yellow, orange and, for contrast and pop, white. It was for a members event for a health club.
The maroon is a challenge in balloon colors and the closest is a jewel burgundy. The “jewel” indicates it is translucent.. see-thru. This might be called “crystal” in other brand balloons.
So I shifted all the colors to “jewel” colors adding citrine yellow, Mandarin orange and quartz purple. On top of the columns I used a diamond clear to represent “white”.
All balloons oxidize and will cloud over and develop a matte finish over time. How long it takes depends largely on sunlight, heat and humidity but it happens indoors in climate controlled conditions as well.
These colors can be used to represent stained glass or candy.
Rainbow Balloon Arch
Client wanted a rainbow arch, emanating from clouds, but wanted subtle color shifts instead of just standard ROYGBIV (red orange yellow green blue indigo and violet). Including several shades of white in the clouds there are 37 different balloon colors used in this arch that spans about 18 feet at the base. And I can think of a couple more I could have used!

Minecraft Party
Oddly, the popular Minecraft game doesn’t have licensed art with any major balloon company I have found. So with some Etsy purchases and cardboard heads, that are even available at ToysRus, we made some nice pieces. Columns that look like the hero, Steve, as well as blocks of stone, diamond, grass and monsters like green creepers and the black enderman.
Outdoor balloons, windy day
Even moderate winds can affect what kinds of balloon décor can work outdoors. In decorating the Hunterdon County Arboretum gazebo for a birthday on a windy day I limited the decorations to daisy clusters tied to trees, posts and fencing. I also tied a balloon column to a stair railing.
Pastel colors were desired and this lent itself well to the use of balloon daisy clusters. On those clusters I alternated the center balloons between solid white and polkadot prints in pink, purple and clear balloons.
Mickey and Minnie centerpieces and columns and arch
Photos at Shezan in Edison NJ.
Two versions each of Mickey and Minnie Mouse balloon centerpieces with wide balloon ribbon white weight. The room had low ceilings so the double arch had to be a little flat. Featured are pink polkadot, rose polkadot, ruby red with both white and black polkadots and sold wildberry (a hot dark pink), black, ruby red and yellow.
Walk to Believe 2016 arch
The 2016 version of the balloon arch for the Eric Legrand Walk to Believe is in Ruby Red and Ivory with some star top-print Ruby Red highlights. Heavy rain was predicted and the weight of the water could drive the arch to the ground. When the shower passes, the water can be shaken off and the arch should rise again if the ground hasn’t popped too many.
Orange, Lime, Yellow Balloon Arch
Here is a banded colors balloon arch for a charity event. These hold up well to light rain or mist due to the collective lift of all the balloons. A single 11 inch balloon filled with helium has a lift of just over 0.3 ounces. Not much. But 240 of them is 80 ounces (5 pounds). I know what you’re thinking.. but what about the movie “UP”? Well, let’s just say that it wasn’t a documentary or that those were magical balloons. Even if he had enough balloons to lift his house, probably 12-18 hours later he would have landed as helium left those balloons. Definitely magic involved.
Lifetime Athletics 60 Day Challenge
The trainer at Lifetime Athletics in Berkeley Heights have challenge events to help motivate people to meet their fitness and health goals.
Some balloon décor, gel-treated to last 3 days or more, helps alert members that a new challenge event is beginning.
This is tall columns and number arch in Caribbean blue, yellow and white with supporting balloon trees. It is notable that the columns are air-filled and, indoors in a controlled environment, they could last many weeks.
Black, white, silver prom
Had the pleasure of decorating Colts Neck HS prom at Arianna’s Grand in Woodbridge. Very nice place and spotless hours before the event was to begin.
It was 31 tables of 5-balloon centerpieces done in onyx black with stars-a-round print with white and silver. We used glitter star weights to reinforce the color and print scheme.
With the light marble tile floor and the up-lighting and marbled mirrors around, it was a very nice look. Hope everyone is going to have a great, and safe, time.

Red Black Balloon Arch
Stuffed balloon centerpiece, blue
- large stuffed balloon with column tail
I think these might look better without the curly balloon tails but in a big room with high ceilings and ample space between tables you cannot go wrong with large balloons. These are 36 inches inflated to 30 inches or so. Each is stuffed with eight 5-inch balloons in shades of blue and white.
Green and ivory balloon clusters in tent
A 30 foot by 30 foot tent with green and ivory daisy clusters suspended on mono-filament line. 12-balloon clusters using largely pearl lime with some in jewel lime and some in forest green, all with ivory.
